MELAKA: Melaka MCA is delighted to witness the participation of students from various ethnicities on the first day of the 2024 schooling session at vernacular schools.
The chief of Melaka MCA, Datuk Lim Ban Hong, expressed his joy at seeing Malay, Kadazan, Bidayuh, and Indian students at SJK (C) Lih Jen in Klebang on Monday (March 11).
During his visit, he discovered that the diverse mix of students was also present in other vernacular schools across the state.
Lim emphasized that this diversity of students attending vernacular schools is evidence that these schools are not responsible for creating racial divisions.
He pointed out that many state assemblymen and members of parliament are themselves products of vernacular schools.
According to Lim, these schools, which cater to specific language and cultural backgrounds, play a crucial role in promoting understanding and mutual respect among different communities.
Lim also highlighted that vernacular schools provide a valuable advantage to Malaysia by equipping students with proficiency in additional languages.
He stressed that in today’s globalized world, individuals who are fluent in multiple languages have a significant edge in business and communication across international borders.
Lim further stated that the ability to communicate in various languages enhances Malaysia’s competitiveness on the global stage.
He concluded by emphasizing that vernacular schools play a vital role in producing a workforce with linguistic diversity, which ultimately contributes to Malaysia’s success in the international arena.
