At the Magistrate’s Court in Bahau, a 36-year-old doctor named Dr Mohamad Amin Razaly has pleaded not guilty to a charge of molesting his 25-year-old employee. The charge of using criminal force with the intention to outrage the modesty of the woman was read to him before Magistrate Norshazwani Ishak on Tuesday (March 12).

The alleged incident took place at his clinic in Bandar Baru Serting near Bahau at around 10.30pm on Feb 19. Dr Mohamad Amin was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which could result in a jail term of up to 10 years, whipping, a fine, or any two of these penalties upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Farahidah Zool Beri requested the court to set bail at RM10,000 with one surety, and also asked for the accused or his family members to not contact or harass the victim. Dr Mohamad Amin expressed his financial struggles, stating that he could not afford the bail amount as his clinic had to be temporarily closed since the case began.

He mentioned his responsibilities towards his two schoolgoing children and an infant, along with other commitments, and acknowledged his lack of alternative income sources. The accused assured the court of his willingness to appear whenever required. In response, Magistrate Norshazwani set bail at RM5,000 with one surety and ordered the accused and his family members to stay away from the victim until the case is resolved.

The next mention date was scheduled for April 29 to allow Dr Mohamad Amin to appoint legal representation. The case has garnered attention for the serious allegations made against the doctor, who maintains his innocence and vows to cooperate with the legal proceedings. The victim’s well-being and rights will be prioritized as the court seeks to ensure a fair trial for both parties involved.
