In the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali stated that non-Malays should not be afraid to vote for Perikatan Nasional and PAS. He emphasized that the political coalition represents all people in the country, regardless of race and religion. Azmin pointed out that the Indian and Chinese communities have been living peacefully under the PAS-led government in Kelantan and Terengganu, where PAS has been ruling for over five decades in Kelantan and three decades in Terengganu.
During a speech at the Grand Finale Perikatan Nasional ceramah in Kampung Parit Keroma Darat, Azmin mentioned that Perikatan is not solely a “kampung” (village) party, but it represents people from all walks of life in the country, whether they are in Kelantan or Johor.
PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man refuted the belief that Islamic nations are exclusively for Muslims. He stated that Islam grants non-Muslims the freedom to exercise their rights and religion. In Kelantan, a single-party rule by PAS ensures the protection of both Muslim and non-Muslim rights. Gerakan, a non-Muslim party, has representatives in every parliamentary location in Kelantan to address non-Muslim issues.
Azmin emphasized that the success in Simpang Jeram and Pulai relies on holding onto the ideal of uplifting Malaysians to a better place, similar to what has been achieved in Kelantan and Terengganu. He encouraged Umno members to join Perikatan rather than solely voting for them, citing the importance of the country’s dignity.
Tan Sri Annuar Musa, the president of Muafakat Nasional, affirmed that Perikatan always keeps its doors open for Umno to return to Muafakat Nasional if they realize the mistake they have made. He urged Umno voters to support Perikatan, as it is the only way to save Umno now that the Barisan Nasional logo is no longer on the voting paper.
Annuar pointed out that the current leadership of Umno has dismissed capable leaders such as Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique, and Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad. He stated that Perikatan is an idea rooted in the leaders of the state, emphasizing the importance of unity among the parties.
