The public is advised to be cautious of individuals posing as members of NGOs and collecting donations, especially for Palestinians, according to Fahmi Fadzil, the Communications and Digital Minister. He warned Malaysians to be alert when contributing to avoid falling prey to scams. Scammers often use images of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian children to deceive people into giving money, but these funds do not reach Palestine. Fahmi urged Malaysians to use official channels and verify the legitimacy of the funds with authorities. The minister made these remarks during an interview with SABAHfm radio station at the Sabah Ministry of Communications and Digital Integrated Complex.
The recent clashes between Hamas and the Israeli regime in Palestine have resulted in the loss of thousands of lives since October 7. In solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine, the Communications and Digital Ministry launched the Palestine Humanitarian Fund on October 26.
While addressing the utilization of the 5G network in Malaysia, Fahmi highlighted various issues that need coordination. One of the concerns is the high charges imposed by telecommunication companies, hindering efforts to encourage more people to adopt 5G. In Sabah, however, the focus is primarily on resolving the state’s internet problem rather than transitioning from 4G to 5G. Fahmi stated that he will discuss this matter with Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor during his courtesy call.
Resolving the internet issue in Sabah is a priority for Fahmi, as it has been a longstanding concern raised by various individuals, including Members of Parliament and ministry staff. He emphasized the need to listen to their voices and work towards a solution.
