KUALA LUMPUR: An inaccurate message is making its way through WhatsApp, falsely claiming that the Immigration Department is offering special approvals for illegal immigrants under the Labour Recalibration Programme (RTK 2.0).
Datuk Ruslin Jusoh, director-general of immigration, clarified that the public should not be deceived by unscrupulous agents or middlemen using fraudulent tactics.
He affirmed that the policy is clear and only foreigners who were illegal immigrants in the country until December 31, 2022, are eligible and will be considered for approval under RTK 2.0.
Since the launch of RTK 2.0 on January 27 this year, this has been the government’s policy, Jusoh stated in a recent press release.
He also explicitly debunked the fake voice message’s claim that special approval would be granted to 5,000 applicants entering the country in 2022.
For accurate and updated information regarding immigration matters, Jusoh advised the public to refer to the official portal and social media accounts of the Immigration Department.
