KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan on Tuesday (Aug 22) urged military personnel and the public from all walks of life to play their important roles in maintaining national security and sovereignty. He emphasized that peace and stability, which are currently enjoyed, should not be taken for granted. According to the minister, the existing spirit of togetherness and cooperation in the community serves as a strong defense against any potential threats to Malaysia.

While recognizing the commitment of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Mohamad Hasan stressed that this responsibility should not rest solely on the security forces. He emphasized the need for cooperation from all parties. The minister made these remarks at the launch of the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign at Dataran Wisma Pertahanan.

Addressing the gathering, Mohamad Hasan emphasized that defense is a collective responsibility that requires the participation of the entire society. He highlighted the importance of public involvement in achieving comprehensive defense and supporting the commitment outlined in the Defense White Paper. The ministry is dedicated to ensuring that the Armed Forces’ three branches are well-equipped with the latest technology and undergo efficient training to effectively respond to any threats.

Mohamad Hasan expressed confidence that Malaysia’s defense strength depends not only on its resources and assets but also on the commitment and determination of all citizens to maintain peace and stability. He also highlighted the collaboration between the people and the Armed Forces as a reflection of the nation’s comprehensive approach to strengthening defense, aligned with this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations theme, ‘Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan’, which calls for unity in facing future challenges.
