GUA MUSANG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged not to politicise Budget 2024, stating that it is better than previous years. He emphasized that the 12th Malaysia Plan and the mid-term review have laid out long-term plans, while the Economy Ministry is developing various plans as well. According to Bernama, Ahmad Zahid made these remarks during the launch of the Kelantan state-level National Sports Day 2023 in Taman Etnobotani. He supported the Prime Minister’s comprehensive research and mentioned that Budget 2024 considers the interests of all sectors of society. Ahmad Zahid also expressed his belief that this budget is an improvement compared to previous ones.

Ahmad Zahid further stated that the allocated RM276 million for Kelantan should be used to construct seven sports facilities in preparation for the 2028 Malaysia Games (Sukma), which will be hosted by the east coast state. He highlighted the importance of using sports to bring different communities together, regardless of their political leanings. Ahmad Zahid acknowledged Kelantan’s potential in sports and emphasized the need for better facilities and coaching to nurture the state’s talent.

Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, the chairman of the Kelantan Madani Unity government, the state police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun, and Galas assemblyman Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim were in attendance at the event.

Ahmad Zahid mentioned that the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) would explore the possibility of applying for the construction of a Sports Complex in Gua Musang. He stated that he will hold discussions with various ministries, including the Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Finance Ministry to make a decision on this matter, likely by the end of this year or early next year.
