According to the Health Ministry, field hospitals will not be established for Covid-19 due to a decline in cases, as stated by minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
Dr Dzulkefly mentioned that there has been a recent decrease in Covid-19 cases nationwide, as evidenced by the various measurements in the heightened alert system such as prevalence, deaths, ICU bed usage, and hospital admissions, all showing a clear downward trend.
He emphasized, “So there is no need for a field hospital at the moment,” during a site visit to the construction of Petra Jaya Hospital on Friday (Jan 12).
However, the ministry remains prepared for any possible scenario, despite the current decrease in cases.
Dr Dzulkefly emphasized the need to live with the virus, without being careless but also without excessive alarm. He advised the public to continue taking necessary precautions to protect themselves and others.
He also credited the decrease in Covid-19 cases to the cooperation of the public. He noted, “Previously we anticipated a rise in cases in the coming festive season because we were very cautious. But with the public’s cooperation, we’re seeing a decrease in January.”
