In a ceramah at the Bakri PAS Markaz in Muar on Sunday (Sept 3), former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammed referred to political parties led by non-Malays as ‘parti pendatang’ (migrant parties).
According to Dr Mahathir, the issue of racial division in the country is caused by the non-Malays’ unwillingness to assimilate with Malay culture and their creation of separate political parties.
He made a comparison with countries like Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia where political parties for migrants exist, unlike in Malaysia.
Dr Mahathir highlighted that even though these migrants live in Malaysia and have citizenship, they still distance themselves from the local culture.
He stated, “Even in politics, they are establishing their own parties. This is why there are still racial issues in this country. It is not that we do not like them, but they are the ones who do not like us.”
The former Prime Minister also criticized the current leader of Pakatan Harapan, saying that he wants to give the country to outsiders and that this is unacceptable as Malays were the ones who explored and developed the peninsular.
He asserted his right to discuss matters related to race, religion, and royalty, and mentioned that he would continue to do so.
