PETALING JAYA: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be attending a large Perikatan Nasional gathering in Kelantan on Friday (July 21), according to state coalition secretary Wan Roslan Wan Hamat.
“The gathering will take place at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Baru.
“We have also been informed that Dr Mahathir will be in attendance and will deliver a speech to show his support for us,” he said.
Wan Roslan mentioned that the coalition is expecting around 80,000 attendees.
He also stated that many prominent figures who support Perikatan will be present at the event.
On July 5, Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that Dr Mahathir has agreed in principle to support his coalition for the upcoming state elections in August.
Muhyiddin stated that he had a “respectful and cordial” meeting with Dr Mahathir, during which they reached an agreement.
Polling for the states of Selangor, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu is scheduled for August 12. Nomination day will be on July 29, with early voting taking place on August 8.
