The four Perikatan Nasional controlled state governments are set to receive guidance from former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who will serve as an “unofficial advisor” to their official grouping, called the “State Government 4” or “SG4”. Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the PAS vice-president, announced that the Mentris Besar of Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu have agreed in principle to form this multi-state government cooperation, focusing on economic development and improving the standard of living for the people in these states.
During an event in Terengganu on Thursday (Sept 14), Samsuri stated that Dr Mahathir will provide guidance on effective governance to ensure the proposed grouping is efficiently managed. In addition, Dr Mahathir’s role will involve connecting these four states with investors from countries such as Japan and South Korea, given his strong ties with these nations.
Samsuri emphasized that the strategic cooperation among the four states will be based on their respective jurisdictions and will primarily focus on economic development and enhancing the standard of living for the people in these states. By identifying their available assets and strengths, the strategic cooperation and future projects can be implemented.
