PETALING JAYA: Former transport minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has fully cooperated with the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) proceedings regarding the management of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Ayer Hitam MP stated that he was summoned by the PAC as a witness to contribute to the discussion on the procurement of assets, including ventilators and face masks, from China.
“I want to express my gratitude to PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, who has confirmed her satisfaction with my explanations,” Dr Wee announced at a press conference in Parliament on Thursday (Sept 21).
Dr Wee affirmed that he responded to all inquiries posed by PAC members seeking clarifications on the matter.
“I remember every detail from the very beginning, including my involvement in assisting the ministry in placing orders for and acquiring ventilators from China. My role was to ensure the delivery of face masks and ventilators to Malaysia,” he explained.
Furthermore, he chose not to delve into the specifics of the proceedings and will await the tabling of the report in the Dewan Rakyat.
Dr Wee also disclosed that he had furnished the PAC with relevant documents and media reports, which he uploaded on his social media accounts.
The first PAC proceeding on Covid-19 pandemic management took place on June 15, followed by a second session on Aug 22.
Recently, Mas Ermieyati revealed that an explanation from Dr Wee was required as his name had been mentioned in previous proceedings.
