PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has expressed concern over the difficulties faced by hawkers who had to close their stalls due to road works along Route FT050 (Batu Pahat-Ayer Hitam-Kluang).
The Ayer Hitam MP, who is also the President of MCA, visited the construction site and found that it was improperly managed and dirty, making it hard for customers to access the stalls along Route FT050.
Dr Wee discussed this issue during a meeting with all the village heads in the Semarang state constituency, which falls under the Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency.
“I have received complaints regarding various matters, including the road widening and U-turn construction project for Route FT050, which is worth RM240 million. As a result, many stalls had to go out of business,” Dr Wee said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Sept 10).
He further added that he will take immediate action and bring this matter to the attention of the Public Works Department (JKR) and the contractors, to find ways to mitigate the situation and ensure the survival of small businesses in the area.
