KUALA LUMPUR: Rescuers are searching two more manholes towards the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) sewage plant in Pantai Dalam in the search for 48-year-old Vijayaletchumy.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said rescuers have searched four manholes on Saturday (Aug 24) but did not find the victim.

“Rescuers will also search two more manholes as well as the sewage plant.

“If she is not found, we will sit down and plan on further action.

“We cannot ascertain yet how long the SAR will be conducted,” she told reporters at the scene on Saturday (Aug 24).

Asked on the cause of the sinkhole at Jalan Masjid India, Dr Zaliha said it cannot be determined yet.

“We have to wait for the final report after the SAR operation is concluded,” she said.

Dr Zaliha said the ministry will also do a remapping of the areas in Kuala Lumpur, including Jalan Masjid India to ensure the areas are safe.

“We will get input from several parties, including the Geology Department, for the remapping.

“We are not focusing on the safety of Jalan Masjid India only but the rest of Kuala Lumpur as well,” he said.
