PARIT BUNTAR: Claims by a teenage girl that she was almost “abducted” in Kampung Padang, Gerik on Tuesday, turned out to be based on a dream.
Perak women, family, social welfare, cooperatives and entrepreneur development committee chairman Datuk Salbiah Mohamed said the teenager had made a new report to the police to correct her story, reported Sinar Harian.
“The incident did not happen at all, and the truth is she had a dream, which she told to two of her peers. Before she finished telling them, one of her friends informed their teacher,” she said.
She told this to reporters after launching the Kerian District Child Protection Advocacy Programme: Child Love Kerian 2024 at Panglima Bukit Gantang National Secondary School in Parit Buntar on Thursday.
It was previously reported that a 14-year-old girl experienced a moment of panic after nearly becoming a victim of ‘kidnap’ in an incident at Kampung Padang, after a white van bearing a foreign registration number cornered her.
Perak Deputy Police Chief, Deputy Commissioner Zulkafli Sariaat said, the incident was said to have occurred as the victim was walking home from school to her house in the village at 3.20pm.
