IPOH: A car driver suffering from low blood sugar lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a Hindu temple in Tanjung Rambutan near here.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said the 41-year-old employee of the Tanjung Rambutan health clinic was travelling towards Changkat Kinding when he lost control of the vehicle after becoming unconscious and swerved into the temple.

He said the incident happened at 8.36am Thursday (Sept 12).

“However, videos of the accident had gone viral with a title that touches on racial issues that has caught the attention of the public.

“Investigations revealed that the vehicle had swerved into the temple, and hit a pillar.

“Based on the driver’s medical records, the driver is a diabetic, and he is believed to have encountered a ‘hypoglycemic episode’ that led to the incident.

“No one was injured during the incident,” he added.

The case, he said, is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Traffic by-laws.

“The police would like to advise the public not to simply make provocative statements, or post sensitive comments on social media without getting their facts right,” he added.
