In the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Feb 29), the declining value of the ringgit and the issue of inadequate savings in the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) by retirees will be the main focus of the question and answer session. Lim Guan Eng from PH-Bagan will raise the concern about the depreciating ringgit value to the Finance Minister during the Minister’s Question Time (MQT).
Meanwhile, Hassan Abdul Karim from PH-Pasir Gudang will inquire about the efforts taken by the government to address the alarming situation where 35% of EPF contributors aged 45 have retirement savings below RM10,000. This highlights a pressing issue that needs immediate attention and action.
Following the question and answer session, the Dewan Rakyat will proceed with the debate on the Royal address by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, which marked the opening of the Parliament sitting on Monday (Feb 26).
According to the Parliament’s official website calendar, this Dewan Rakyat session spans 19 days. It includes the debate on the Royal address from Feb 27 to March 7, followed by the responses from relevant ministries for four days starting March 11.
The schedule will then move on to the tabling and debate of various Bills and other government matters from March 18 to 27, indicating a busy and productive legislative period ahead. – Bernama
