AMPANG: Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for causing a disturbance and behaving aggressively while under the influence of alcohol.

The man also brandished a pocket knife and made threats towards officers at Ampang Jaya police headquarters.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail stated that the incident took place at around 8.10pm on Tuesday (Dec 12).

“The intoxicated man approached the guardpost and behaved in a threatening manner,” said ACP Mohd Azam.

“Despite repeated warnings from the police, the man took out a knife and was subsequently detained,” he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 15).

The suspect sustained a laceration on his forehead while repeatedly banging his head against the ground as he was being handcuffed.

“This individual has a history of five prior offences,” revealed ACP Mohd Azam.

“We have also confiscated the knife used by the suspect, and he has been remanded until Dec 19,” ACP Mohd Azam added, noting that the investigation is ongoing.
