KUALA TERENGGANU: Dungun Hospital, which is currently in the final stage of construction, is set to become the third specialist hospital in Terengganu. This will be in addition to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) and Kemaman Hospital.
Datuk Dr Zulkapli Mohamed, the director-general of Public Service Department, announced that the provision of specialist hospital services is one of the initiatives by the Madani government. The aim is to ensure that underprivileged individuals have access to specialized and high-quality treatment. This move aligns with the government’s vision of enhancing the well-being of the people.
Dr Zulkapli Mohamed further stated that the opening of Dungun Hospital will create career opportunities across various job levels, including professional, clinical, nursing, and management positions. He emphasized the positive impact this development will have on the people of Terengganu, as they will now have access to better and quality healthcare services.
Furthermore, the establishment of the hospital will not only provide job opportunities in the healthcare sector but also in other sectors such as cleaning services and business. This is deemed as a benefit resulting from the opening of the hospital, which promotes economic growth in the region.
In an effort to ensure the hospital meets all requirements and specifications, Dr Zulkapli Mohamed recently visited the facility. The focus of his inspection was on the construction work, particularly the operating theatre. The objective of this visit was to ensure that all facilities are prepared and in accordance with the standards to guarantee the welfare of civil servants and the safety of patients who will receive treatment there.
Dungun Hospital, which has a capacity of 110 beds, commenced construction in 2016 and was initially planned to be completed by 2019. Once operational, the hospital will offer a total of ten specialist services, including paediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, pathology, anaesthesiology, and dentistry.
