KOTA TINGGI: Two men in their 30s have been arrested for possessing ketum and two airsoft rifles here.
Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the raid on a house here was conducted at 9.30pm on Saturday (June 15).
“An inspection of the house revealed two airsoft rifles and 62 pellets.
“The team also found 133 packets containing ketum juice and another 255 packets containing ketum leaves as well as equipment used to process ketum,” he said in a statement here on Sunday (June 16).
Supt Hussin added that the total value of the seizures is around RM6,630.
“The Kota Tinggi Magistrate’s Court granted a four-day remand under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for one of the suspects.
“The other suspect was granted police bail after his statement was recorded,” he said.
He said the investigation was being conducted under Section 8(a) and Section 36 of the Arms Act for possessing or carrying arms and ammunition without a license, and for possession, sale, buying or distribution of imitation weapons.
The duo are also being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act for possessing ketum water.
