RE-ELECTED Selangor state assemblymen express their gratitude for the extended opportunity to serve their constituents. Among them are Lee Kee Hiong, Borhan Aman Shah, and Hilman Idham.

They were among the 19 Selangor state assemblymen who managed to retain their seats in the recently concluded state elections.

Lee, a third-time Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman, said she would continue to identify beneficiaries in her constituency for the various programs by the Selangor government.

The key to winning the hearts of the people, she said, was to meet their needs.

“The needs of the people in Kuala Kubu Baharu, which has many senior citizens, are basic. The various programs under the Selangor government, like the 46 programs under Iltizam Selangor Penyayang, can assist with this.

“But the people may not be aware of the programs. This is where the councilors and village chiefs play an important role in disseminating this information. I am thankful for having a great team.

“The people who benefit from the programs are very happy.

“I am very accessible to the people here. I am either in my office or can be reached on my mobile phone up to 12 hours per day.”

She also said her work during the Covid-19 pandemic in extending care and support to the senior citizens whose children were unable to return home may have helped get her re-elected.

“During the MCO, many of the residents’ children living far away were very thankful that I provided their parents free rides to the hospital for appointments and to get their Covid-19 vaccinations,” added Lee.

Borhan, a second-term Tanjong Sepat assemblyman, said he would work towards uplifting the economy for small and medium industries and boost tourism.

The former Selangor rural development, village traditions, Malay customs, culture and heritage committee chairman said his re-election meant the constituents were pleased with his service and they have reaffirmed their trust in him to do better.

“The people’s trust should not be taken lightly.

“If the assemblymen do the job well and look into the needs of people under his jurisdiction without fear or favor, he or she will be retained.

“If one does not do well during the five-year term, it will give opportunities for opponents to politicize the matter and sway the support in the next election.

Borhan said he had few projects planned, and with the state and federal governments on the same side, it would be much easier to execute the projects.

Hilman, who secured a narrow win to retain his Gombak Setia seat for a second term, said he would like to develop Gombak Setia into a competitive and prosperous area.

“There are a lot of areas we have to focus on in Gombak Setia. During the first term, our agenda was development.

“For the second term, I hope to give attention to community empowerment,” he added.
