Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers were engaged in negotiations with the “Kepung Demi Palestin” protesters at the US Embassy in the early hours of Wednesday. The negotiations began around 1am, when a group of DBKL officers arrived at the makeshift “campsite” set up by the protesters. Former PKR vice president Chua Tian Chang was seen negotiating with the officers, and initially a compromise was reached where one of the tents would be voluntarily taken down by the protesters.

However, the DBKL officers insisted that all the tents be dismantled despite pleas from the group, who argued that they were not obstructing traffic. As of 2:30am, only one tent had been taken down. Earlier, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid urged everyone to cooperate with the authorities to ensure public safety. The protesters are currently outside the US embassy as part of a six-day peaceful assembly called “Kepung Demi Palestin.”
