The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the early voting turnout for the Pulai parliamentary by-election was 90%. The by-election’s early voting process began at 8am on September 5, with the participation of 831 police personnel. The EC congratulated the electoral officer and team for their outstanding execution of responsibilities.
The EC Secretary, Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the police, local authorities, Information Department, media, and all parties involved for their cooperation and support. The Pulai parliamentary and Simpang Jeram state by-elections were organized due to the passing of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, on July 23. The polling day for both by-elections has been scheduled for September 9.
In the Pulai parliamentary by-election, a total of 166,653 individuals are eligible to vote, while in the Simpang Jeram by-election, the number of eligible voters is 40,379.
