The Election Commission (EC) has issued a total of 304 postal ballot papers for the Pulai Parliamentary and Simpang Jeram state by-elections, according to EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak.

The issuance of postal ballot papers for both by-elections took place on Monday, August 28. The process was conducted in the presence of postal ballot agents selected by the contesting candidates.

In detail, 226 postal ballots were issued for the Pulai Parliamentary by-election. Among these, 172 were issued for Category 1A, which includes election workers, EC members and officers, police and army personnel, as well as media practitioners. Additionally, 22 Category 1B ballots were issued for Malaysians residing abroad, 6 Category 1C ballots were issued for agencies and organizations, and 26 overseas absentee voters were issued ballots.

For the Simpang Jeram state by-election, a total of 78 postal ballot papers were issued. Among these, 62 were issued for Category 1A, while 10 Category 1B ballots and 6 overseas absentee voter ballots were also issued.

Datuk Ikmalrudin also emphasized the importance of voters marking the ballot paper correctly and filling in the Identity Declaration form (Form 2) completely and accurately. These documents must be returned to the Returning Officer before 5pm on September 9.

Furthermore, voters were reminded to maintain the confidentiality of their votes by refraining from taking photos of the postal ballot papers and sharing them on social media platforms.

These developments were announced by the EC on Tuesday, August 29 through a statement.
