SHAH ALAM: Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has stated that the land acquisition process for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project is currently ongoing and will be resolved in the near future.
In response to reports of delays in Selangor regarding the land acquisition for the project, Amirudin mentioned that a special committee consisting of state and ECRL representatives is handling the matter. This process entails the relocation of certain residents who have raised objections.
Amirudin further emphasized the importance of finding a mutually beneficial solution, as the ECRL plays a crucial role in Selangor’s economy.
According to reports, the land acquisition for the 665km-long ECRL line is now 93% complete. The remaining 7% involves Section C of the rail alignment in Selangor.
Zhang Wenfeng, the general manager of the Railway Business Unit of China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC), explained that the project’s construction has achieved a progress rate of 50.29% as of mid-August 2023. The project is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2027.
CHEC, a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC), serves as the main contractor for the ECRL project.
