TASEK GELUGOR: Abdul Mohsein Shariff, the Pakatan Harapan candidate for Telok Ayer Tawar, has revealed a comprehensive seven-point manifesto outlining his plans if he is elected. The manifesto includes the establishment of a People’s Tuition Academy and the enhancement of public facilities in the constituency.
Abdul Mohsein, who is the son of former deputy minister Datuk Seri Shariff Omar, envisions transforming Telok Ayer Tawar into an attractive and livable destination while also prioritizing environmental preservation.
“My mission is to develop Telok Ayer Tawar through green development, education, empowering women and youth, and improving basic facilities, as well as boosting the local economy,” stated Abdul Mohsein during his speech at the Pakatan operations room in Telok Ayer Tawar at Taman Robina on Friday night (Aug 4).
In the state seat, Abdul Mohsein will go head-to-head with the Perikatan Nasional candidate Azmi Alang.
The seven-point manifesto, known as Tawar, includes the establishment of a People’s Tuition Academy to enhance educational opportunities for school children.
Additionally, Abdul Mohsein aims to turn the constituency into one of the primary paddy producers in the northern Penang region.
Furthermore, he is committed to implementing intensive empowerment programs for women, with a particular focus on single mothers and housewives.
Abdul Mohsein also plans to transform the area into an eco-tourism hub, which will benefit the local community, particularly the fishermen’s village, by generating economic spillover effects.
He has also emphasized the need for improved public facilities, such as additional ATM machines, health clinics, and post offices in the area.
To support small and medium businesses, Abdul Mohsein intends to enhance basic infrastructure, including stalls at the local night markets.
The state election in Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Penang, and Negri Sembilan is scheduled for August 12 and will coincide with the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election. Early voting is set for August 8.
