The Ministry of Education, under the leadership of Education director-general Datuk Pkharuddin Ghazali, has announced plans to appoint teachers on a contract basis in order to fill up vacancies. This initiative is considered to be one of the ministry’s top priorities, alongside the recent offer of permanent employment for the Grade DG41 position to 9,552 teachers.
Datuk Pkharuddin explained that the ministry aims to enhance the recruitment process for teachers in certain teaching areas through these contract-based appointments. He made these comments during the Bicara Eksekutif Ketua Pengarah Pendidikan Malaysia programme held in conjunction with the District Transformation Convention on November 5.
Furthermore, he stated that the ministry will continue to collaborate with both public and private higher learning institutions to address the ongoing issue of teacher shortages in the future.
Last Thursday, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced that a total of 9,552 education graduates have been selected for Grade DG41 teacher positions for this year’s intake. This move is expected to help alleviate the shortage of teachers in the country.
