The Education Ministry is currently looking into a recent case of suspected bullying involving a student at a boarding school in order to address the issue promptly.

In an official statement, the ministry acknowledged the reported bullying and stated that Circulars 12 and 13 of 2023, dated Nov 3, 2023, are to be used as a reference to handle indications of bullying and sexual harassment in all educational institutions under the purview of the Education Ministry.

The ministry also outlined four avenues for students, parents, and the community to report incidents of bullying and sexual harassment.

These complaints can be made through a dedicated hotline, the WhatsApp application, via email at [email protected], and using the Public Complaint Management System (SISPAA).

According to the media report on Saturday (Dec 9), a 14-year-old student who had been missing since Thursday (Dec 7) from Sekolah Menengah Sains Alam Shah, Jalan Yaacob Latif, Cheras, was discovered in a weakened state at the Saidina Othman Mosque in Bandar Tun Razak on Friday (Dec 8) evening.

It was revealed that the teen had fled from school after experiencing bullying from other students. – Bernama.
