KOTA KINABALU: A search operation is underway for eight individuals who are believed to have gone missing while venturing out for a fishing expedition in the waters off Tawau district.
According to reports, the eight individuals had embarked on their fishing trip in the vicinity of Kg Inderasabah on Sunday (July 23), but regrettably, they failed to return home.
Hamsa Isnurdini, assistant director of operations at the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, stated that a missing persons report was received at approximately 1.15pm on Monday (July 24).
He further added, “It is suspected that the boat has sunk and the eight individuals have unfortunately gone missing due to this incident.”
Hamsa Isnurdini also mentioned that firefighters, in collaboration with the police and other enforcement officials, are actively involved in the search for the vessel and the victims.
