An elderly man sustained minor injuries after crashing his car into a lottery outlet in Taman Molek, Butterworth. The incident occurred at around 3pm on Sunday, October 15. It is believed that the 65-year-old man accidentally pressed on the accelerator pedal, causing his vehicle to crash into the store and injure a worker.
Noorhisham Md Noor, the operations officer at Butterworth Fire and Rescue Station, received a distress call regarding the incident at 3.06pm. According to Noorhisham, the man was trapped in his seat, and firefighters had to rescue him before he was taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment.
One female worker in her 70s also suffered injuries to her hands and legs. She was sitting at a dining table approximately two meters away from the counter. The victim is currently in stable condition and has been sent to the same hospital for treatment.
Noorhisham mentioned that the man was attempting to park his car in front of the outlet when the accident occurred. The local authorities, Bernama, reported this incident.
