An elderly man was discovered deceased in his home in Taman Desa Bidara, Kuala Ketil, near Baling. The man, aged 71, was found with his legs and hands bound and a cloth tied around his neck in his master bedroom. The victim had been living alone since his wife passed away eight years ago. The incident was reported to the police by a concerned citizen at 3:21 pm.
Baling district police chief, Supt Shamsudin Mamat, stated that there were no signs of forced entry into the victim’s single-storey terrace house. After reviewing CCTV footage from a neighboring house, two male suspects were seen leaving the crime scene on a dark-colored Yamaha Y15 motorcycle at approximately 3 pm. It is believed that the motive for the crime was robbery as a gold chain, ring, and wallet were reported missing from the victim’s possession.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which deals with murder charges. The victim’s body has been transported to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
As part of the ongoing investigation, two individuals, aged 23 and 25, were arrested at 3 am to assist with the inquiries.

The police are seeking the public’s cooperation in order to bring the perpetrators to justice.
