An elderly man has been taken into custody on suspicion of killing his older brother and sister-in-law at an oil palm plantation in Pantai Remis, Manjung.

The Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah disclosed that the man, who is in his 60s, was apprehended after a report was made regarding a confrontation between him and the couple, who are also in their 60s, at the oil palm plantation around 3.30pm on Tuesday (March 5).

The altercation is believed to have stemmed from a property dispute.

“The bodies of the victims displayed head injuries, and we have recovered a sickle that we suspect was used as the weapon,” stated ACP Mohamed Nordin.

“The bodies have been transported to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further investigation,” he added.

ACP Mohamed announced that the case will be probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

He further mentioned that the suspect will be brought to the Seri Manjung Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (March 6) for remand proceedings.

“We urge anyone with pertinent information about the incident to come forward to the police or to contact district criminal investigation department chief Asst Supt Ashazarul Khairi Ab Hamid at 012-508 7026,” he appealed.
