KUALA LUMPUR: The police have successfully apprehended a senior woman suspected of being involved in a horrifying acid attack on a married couple in Gombak. The incident took place on Tuesday (July 4) when the couple entered a lift. Gombak police chief, Supt Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, announced the arrest of the woman in her 60s, which occurred on Sunday (July 9) at Taman M Residensi Rawang. The investigation is ongoing in accordance with Section 324 of the Penal Code. Supt Noor Ariffin stated that the suspect would be brought to the Selayang Court on Monday (July 10) to obtain a remand order under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
During the incident, which occurred at 1.27am, the couple – a 60-year-old local woman and her 37-year-old husband – were severely injured after the woman splashed acid on them. The attack took place in the apartment lift in Batu Caves, Gombak. Miraculously, their 14-year-old son, who was with them at the time, escaped unhurt. The police are continuing their investigation into this shocking incident.
