PETALING JAYA: The government will do its best to aid the welfare of the family of e-hailing driver Sharipuddin Shaari, 53, who died in the plane crash incident in Shah Alam.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said this in a Facebook post on Saturday (Aug 19) after visiting the victim’s family.

“This morning, I visited and gave some personal help to the family of one of the victims (Sharipuddin), who died as a result of the plane crash.

“The victim was an e-hailing driver who happened to pass through the crash site when the accident happened.

“The accident is very tragic and sad. The government will try its best to help in the welfare aspect of the victim’s family,” he said.

According to Loke, a Grab representative present said the e-hailing company would help with the insurance claim process.

He also extended his condolences to all families of victims.

Meanwhile, a Malay language portal reported that Sharipuddin’s wife Suriana, 43, from Taman Desa Vista, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi said she would speak about the condition of her late husband’s remains.

The hospital had shown her a picture but she said it was not something that can be shared with others.

Still reeling from the tragedy, Suriana said she only wanted to bury her husband peacefully.

She added that families of all victims had agreed that they wanted to bury their loved ones separately so they could visit their graves in the future.
