KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry will request the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) to initiate an investigation into all Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) aircraft currently in use in Malaysia.
Minister Anthony Loke stated that the ministry is not looking to hastily suspend the operation of these aircraft models and instead prefers to make informed decisions based on the probe conducted by technical experts and authorities.
“So no hasty decisions have been made at this point, and of course, the CAAM will conduct a detailed investigation into the aircraft model currently being used in Malaysia,” he said.
Loke made these comments in response to questions from reporters at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Yinson Holdings Bhd, RRJ Capital, and Farosson on Friday (Aug 18).
The previous day, a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) aircraft crashed near Bandar Elmina in Shah Alam, Selangor, resulting in the deaths of 10 individuals, including Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment, and Green Technology committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun.
The deceased included two flight crew members and six passengers of the light aircraft, as well as a car driver and a motorcyclist who were on the highway at the time of the accident.
