PETALING JAYA: Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Salleh, the 32-year-old food delivery rider killed in the plane crash on the Guthrie Highway near Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, on Thursday (Aug 17), was supposed to attend his younger sister’s wedding in Kedah next week.

According to his cousin Nurul Nazihah, she just met Muhamad Hafiz, who was the oldest of five siblings, during Hari Raya Haji at the end of June.

“I live in Kulim, his mother lives in Sidam. Our kampung is in Baling.

“Next week is his sister’s wedding. He was supposed to be back next week. It is really sad. The last time we met was during Hari Raya Korban. He was a soft-spoken person,” Nurul Nazihah was quoted as saying by mStar on Friday (Aug 18).

Nurul Nazihah also said Muhamad Hafiz was a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) graduate like her, and he was working as a food delivery rider in Kuala Lumpur after completing his studies in 2017.

According to Nurul Nazihah, she saw a video of the crash on Thursday (Aug 17).

“I ask myself why was he there during the incident? It was sad to see.

“I only found out after Maghrib prayers that he was my cousin. The police went to his mother’s house to inform them,” said Nurul Nazihah.

Ten people were killed after the Beechcraft 390 plane crashed on the Guthrie Highway on Thursday.

Two flight crew members and six passengers – including Pahang local government, housing, environment and green technology committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun – were killed in the tragedy.
