SHAH ALAM: Efforts to recover the black box from the ill-fated plane which crashed near Elmina Township are ongoing, says Anthony Loke.

“The mission to recover the black box is underway,” the Transport Minister said at a press conference at the Subang Airport.

He also confirmed that there was no mayday call from the aircraft.

The Air Accident Investigation Bureau has been activated and has been deployed to the accident site to recover the black box.

“Based on initial findings, the aircraft had veered off to the right of the flight path,” he said.

He said the private jet’s first contact with the Air Traffic Control Tower of the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang came at 2.47pm and a landing clearance was given at 2.48pm.

When asked if there was any contact from the plane and the control tower, Loke said three minutes after clearance was given, the personnel at the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower saw a large column of smoke from the crash site.

“All safety protocols were activated after the crash,” he added.

The aircraft operated by Jetvalet Sdn Bhd departed from Langkawi International Airport at 2.08pm to the Subang Airport.
