PETALING JAYA: A lorry driver has apologised after failing to rescue the p-hailing rider who was involved in the plane crash incident on the Guthrie Highway at Elmina, Shah Alam.

The touching incident was recorded by an eye-witness, which was shared via a short video clip on TikTok known as @affyndy on Thursday (Aug 18), Malay language daily Sinar Harian reported.

According to the lorry driver, when the plane crashed, he rushed to the scene as soon as he heard a cry for help nearby.

“I took the fire extinguisher from the back of my lorry and rushed to the site. At that time, the rider was still moving.

“I tried to approach the rider, but at that time there were still some small explosions.

“I tried to help using the fire extinguisher,” he was quoted as saying in a report by Sinar Harian

Unfortunately, the lorry driver could not do more as he had used all of the fire extinguishers with him.

He said he felt sad and guilty that he was unable to help the victim.

“I tried my best to help the motorcycle rider. I am sorry,” he said.

The motorcyclist who died in the Elmina plane crash was identified as Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Salleh, a 32-year-old man from Sidam, Kedah.

Ten people were killed after the Beechcraft 390 plane crashed on the Guthrie Highway on Aug 17.

Two flight crew members and six passengers – including Pahang local government, housing, environment and green technology committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun – were killed in the tragedy.
