PUTRAJAYA: According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), a total of six passengers and two flight crew members were on board the light aircraft that crashed near the Elmina Township in Selangor.
CAAM CEO Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud stated that the condition of those on board has yet to be confirmed as at press time.
“The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirms that a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) registration number N28JV had crashed near Elmina, Shah Alam, Selangor,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 17).
“The aircraft operated by Jetvalet Sdn Bhd departed from Langkawi International Airport at 2.08pm to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (in Subang).
“The first contact made by the aircraft with Subang Air Traffic Control Tower was at 2.47pm and landing clearance was given at 2.48pm at 2.51pm, the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower observed smoke originating from the crash site but no mayday call was made by the aircraft,’ he said in a statement.
He added that the Kuala Lumpur Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (KL ARCC) has been activated to coordinate the search and rescue mission.
In accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016, the Transport Ministry’s Air Accident Investigation Bureau will conduct a safety investigation.
Earlier reports indicated that an aircraft had crashed near the Elmina Township, with various pictures and videos of the burning wreckage circulating on social media.
