The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has encouraged locals and people from neighbouring districts to join the Car-Free Day event at Klang’s Jalan Stesen on September 24.
According to MPK Corporate Communications Department director Norfiza Mahfiz, the event aims to promote sustainable transportation and is not just about reducing cars on the road and improving air quality.
The event is scheduled on Sunday at 7am to allow more families to participate and enjoy the weekend.
The venue, located opposite the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, is conveniently close to the Klang Komuter station, making it easy for people to go car-free for the event.
Norfiza added that celebrating Car-Free Day in different ways benefits the community by creating a greener environment.
She also mentioned that during the pandemic and the movement control order, they experienced a significant reduction in cars on the road and enjoyed cleaner air.
MPK’s Car Free Day event will feature several retail stalls, food trucks for breakfast, an aerobic session, a 2.3km fun walk around the heritage area, a wefie competition, and lucky draws.
The event aims to bring families together, create happiness, and strengthen bonds among family members.
It provides an opportunity for wives to take a break from household chores, husbands to escape daily traffic congestion, and everyone to focus on what truly matters – spending quality time with their families and having a great weekend.
