    PETALING JAYA: Former deputy minister Datuk Seri Dr Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan died at the age of 78 on Wednesday (Sept 6) morning.

    Abdullah, who served in the defense and foreign ministries, passed away at KPJ Tawakkal Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

    The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) expressed their condolences for Abdullah’s death. He was a former BAM president and his contributions will always be remembered.

    Abdullah led the national badminton governing body for seven years, from 1993 to 2000.

    “Condolences to the family of former BAM president, Datuk Seri Dr Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan. The deceased’s contribution to the sport of badminton will always be remembered.

    “His passing is a huge loss for the country. May his soul rest in peace,” said BAM president Tan Sri Dr Mohamad Norza Zakaria in a post on the BAM Facebook page.

    BAM added that Abdullah will be remembered as a dedicated figure who loved his country.

    Abdullah served as the Bukit Gantang MP from 1986 to 2004 and held the deputy foreign affairs minister position from 1987 to 1995 and the deputy defense minister post from 1995 to 1999.
