A former senior manager of a government-linked company (GLC) has been arrested by graft busters for allegedly submitting fake claims for three maintenance projects in Tawau. The arrest took place at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Tawau office at 10.30am on Tuesday (Sept 12).
According to reports, the suspect, who is in his 40s, submitted claims worth approximately RM26,000 between November 2017 and January 2018. It has been revealed that the suspect had instructed a company to perform pipe replacement work at a palm oil-based product manufacturing company. However, these projects were never carried out.
The suspect was later released on RM5,000 bail, with one local surety. Sabah MACC director, Datuk S Karunanithy, confirmed that the suspect is expected to be charged at the Tawau Sessions Court on Wednesday (Sept 13).
