PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim accuses a former minister of corruption.
The Prime Minister doesn’t reveal the former minister’s identity, but cites misconduct related to records, contracts, and land.
Anwar urges the leader to stop pretending to be clean because he has seen the latter’s files and records.
He advises the politician to reflect on himself and be cautious.
“Several former ministers have messaged me, asking me to focus on handling the country instead of discussing corruption and governance.
“They called me a braggart, and labeled (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad) Zahid Hamidi a liar and Anwar a hypocrite in Islam.
“Let me remind them. They’re not updated. That’s why I had conversations with Elon Musk, Richard Lee, and Aramco, the world’s largest gas company…It’s the result of teamwork with ministers, government departments, officials, and ambassadors for the country’s economy.
“This former minister talks as if we’ve accomplished nothing.”
Anwar, speaking at the Jelajah Madani event and the launch of Kedah’s unity machinery in Guar Chempedak, Yan, Kedah on Saturday night, vows to expose more wrongdoings through appropriate channels.
“As the Prime Minister, I can confirm that the files and records I’ve seen are extremely shameful,” he declares.
Anwar also alleges that the former minister received rewards for accumulating his wealth, including properties within and outside the country.
He raises the issue because he’s tired of those who pretend to be clean when they’re not.
Addressing the audience in KEPALA BATAS yesterday, Anwar responds to frequent questions about his actions for the Malays and Islam.
“For the past eight months, Parliament has repeatedly asked what I’ve done to betray the Malays and Islam.
“Is it because I support Chow Kon Yeow as Penang’s Chief Minister?
“I haven’t betrayed anyone; I accept the political and realistic truth.
“I want this country to be peaceful.
“All top positions, including Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Chief Judge, Attorney General, and Bank Negara Governor, are held by Malays and Muslims.
“We must prevent racial animosity that could lead to our downfall,” he comments at the state-level Malaysia Madani seminar in Bertam Resort on the mainland.
Furthermore, Anwar assures the attendees that he’s willing to improve himself if there are any shortcomings.
“As the Prime Minister, I understand that not everything I do will be perfect.
“Give me time, and I will make it better,” he promises.
However, he emphasizes that there’s one thing he won’t tolerate.
“I’ve experienced ups and downs, and I will not betray the people’s trust by embezzling the country’s funds and allowing corruption to persist,” he asserts.
