KUALA SELANGOR: The Communications and Digital Ministry (KKD) has announced that the “Ziarah Kasih” programme will become a permanent feature of the ministry. The programme aims to reach out to the rakyat (people) and address issues concerning internet connection problems.
Fahmi Fadzil, the Minister of Communications and Digital, stated that the programme allows aid to be provided in a comprehensive manner through the involvement of relevant parties.
“We believe it is appropriate for this ministry to continue the programme. While resolving connectivity issues, we also pay attention to matters of welfare,” Fahmi said during the Ziarah Kasih programme in Kampung Bukit Badong, Bestari Jaya. The event was also attended by PH-BN Ijok state seat candidate, Amidi Abdul Manan.
He further stated that similar programmes will be conducted in Sabah on Aug 25 and in Sarawak on Sept 2. During these visits, the ministry will not only address internet problems but also health and welfare issues faced by journalists and members of the public.
One of the residents, 72-year-old Sawiah Adam, expressed her appreciation for Fahmi’s presence. She described him as a minister who genuinely cares for the people’s interests.
Sawiah, who suffers from various ailments including gout, kidney disease, and heart disease, expressed gratitude for the aid provided by Fahmi, particularly the new wheelchair that will greatly improve her quality of life.
Touching on the internet speed in the village, Fahmi highlighted that he has instructed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to swiftly resolve the issue.
“I was informed that the village had reported the internet problem to the MCMC since 2020. I don’t understand why there has been a delay and why the problem persists. The signal strength here is very weak, and it’s a chronic problem that needs to be addressed. We will examine the existing towers and take appropriate action,” Fahmi added. – Bernama
