In a recent announcement, Fahmi Fadzil, the Communications and Digital Minister, revealed that media practitioners with an authorised media tag from the Information Department will receive a one-month rebate on their phone bill. This initiative is set to benefit approximately 10,000 media practitioners across Malaysia and is seen as a token of appreciation for their role in disseminating information related to the Rahmah initiative under the Malaysia Madani concept.
All media personnel holding an authorised tag from the Information Department will be eligible for this phone bill rebate. The exact details of the initiative, such as its mechanism and implementation process, will be disclosed after further discussions with the Telcos involved, including TM (Unifi Mobile), CelcomDigi, Maxis, Umobile, and YTL Communications. The minister expressed his optimism about the initiative, stating that there are potentially more initiatives to come following the finalization of discussions with the Telcos.
