KUALA LUMPUR: The central committee for the application for filming and performance by foreign artistes (Puspal) has been instructed to provide a list of improvements to regulations governing the approval of performances by foreign artistes to the Communications and Digital Ministry next week, according to Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi Fadzil, the Communications and Digital Minister, stated that this list of improvements is necessary to prevent future disrespectful actions during performances by foreign artistes. He specifically mentioned the incident with British band The 1975 during their recent performance at the Good Vibes Festival 2023 in Sepang on July 21.
The minister spoke to reporters after attending a Madani Community event in Kuala Lumpur on July 22. He revealed that he had a meeting with Puspal in June, where it was disclosed to him that the application for The 1975 to perform at the festival had been denied.
However, the festival organizers decided to appeal this decision and included a letter of undertaking, assuring that they would take full responsibility for the band’s concert.
“The organisers appealed and attached a letter of undertaking stating that they would be fully responsible for the band’s concert,” Fahmi Fadzil said.
