PETALING JAYA: Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil (pic) has called on young people using TikTok not to discuss sensitive issues related to race, religion, and royalty, especially during the upcoming state elections.
He urged individuals to report any other political parties that touch on these sensitive topics, assuring that action will be taken. However, he clarified that there are no plans to ban TikTok in Malaysia.
Fahmi Fadzil made these remarks during a ceramah at Pentas Geng Perpaduan in Kota Damansara, Selangor, where a majority of the audience consisted of youths and supporters of both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan.
He highlighted the significance of TikTok for the youth, emphasizing the importance of using the platform effectively during the Selangor state election to outperform opposing parties.
Various youth leaders, including Selangor Opposition chief Rizam Ismail from Umno, and PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim, were also invited to speak at the event.
PKR candidate Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim, who is contesting in Kota Damansara, shared that the constituency has approximately 90,000 voters, with youths comprising 58% of the total. He will be competing against PN-Bersatu candidate Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin and PSM candidate Sivarajan Arumugam in the state polls on August 12.
