KLANG: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should cooperate with the anti-graft agency regarding the disappearance of his son-in-law, according to Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi stated that Adlan Berhan should not have gone missing if he is innocent of any wrongdoing.
“If he is not guilty, why did he disappear? He should make an appearance,” Fahmi said during the “Arus Merah Kuning” unity ceramah in Meru on Monday (Aug 7) night.
Fahmi urged Muhyiddin to assist the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in locating his son-in-law and ensuring that justice is served.
“Tan Sri Muhyiddin must provide information on the whereabouts of his son-in-law. We demand answers,” he added.
Earlier on Monday, the MACC issued a statement that it is looking for Adlan Berhan and lawyer Mansoor Saat to assist in the investigation into a ministry project involving the registration, recruitment, and storage of biometric data of foreign workers.
“Based on the MACC’s investigation with the Immigration Department, both individuals left the country on May 17 and 21 respectively, and there is no record of their return,” the statement said.
The MACC also mentioned that they have made various attempts to contact the duo and their lawyers, but they have failed to present themselves at the MACC office.
Meanwhile, Fahmi called on all parties to be open-minded and reject extreme racial and religious ideologies.
“Let us not allow our political differences to divide our national unity.
“Do we really want to see the Malays divided amongst themselves and others fight in disunity?
“We have achieved independence for 66 years. Let us not allow our partisanship to break the unity and harmony we have achieved,” he said.
