KUALA LUMPUR: Abdullah Izhar Mohamed Yusof, the political secretary to Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, has filed a report against Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, also known as “Sir Azri,” regarding a defamatory statement made about the Good Vibes Festival. The report was lodged at 11.12am on Tuesday (July 25) at Pantai police station. The 3.24-second video on Facebook by Wan Muhammad Azri, popularly known as “Papagomo,” allegedly slandered and disparaged the government by suggesting that the incident involving “The 1975” was staged.
Abdullah Izhar stated that the report was made to expedite the investigation into Sir Azri’s Facebook account and the individual responsible for slandering the government in the video. He emphasized the need for police to investigate all of Sir Azri’s social media platforms to prevent the dissemination of defamation or fake news that could threaten the harmony among different races and religions in Malaysia.
The video featured a conversation with a man claiming to be a former crew member of the concert organizer on Facebook. The special branch has already obtained the statement of the complainant, and the report serves to strongly deny the slanderous allegations made by the involved individual.
Abdullah Izhar saw the Facebook post at 5.51pm at the office of the Lembah Pantai MP. Regarding “The 1975” incident, he stated that the government swiftly took steps to cancel the festival. However, this issue was manipulated by a few individuals with political motives to undermine the government. He urged the authorities to take action against Sir Azri or Papagomo to discourage other parties from slandering the government.
