In Seri Kembangan, Selangor, a tragic incident unfolded as a woman and her daughter were feared to have drowned in a sudden water surge in a river this afternoon. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar addressed the situation, revealing that the Indonesian family of five had been fishing in Kota Perdana when the water level unexpectedly rose. The family consisted of a husband and wife, along with their three children – two boys and one girl.
The father contacted the operation commander, indicating that his wife and three children were believed to have drowned in the turbulent waters. A grim turn of events followed, with the discovery of one of the boys, aged 9, who was found safe by the public at around 5.18pm. Tragically, the body of a child, aged 10, was recovered approximately 1km away from where they fell into the river, and health ministry officials confirmed his death at 7.01pm.
As the search and rescue efforts continue, with hopes of finding the missing wife and female child still lingering, the community and authorities remain on edge, hoping for some glimmer of positive news amidst the overwhelming tragedy.
